Thanks for the comments. It looks like I either live with the hallo effect or take it off. I will try to see if i can get use to it over the next month or so.

+1 for foodplz. Huper Optik is very good and quite spendy. One great thing about it is how efficient the nanoceramic film is at rejecting sunlight, if you can park with the rear of the car facing the sun (i.e. the car basically pointing north) it just doesn't seem to get hot inside, and this is with a Deep sea blue car with dark upholstery.

Just got mine tinted 35% through the dealership a week ago (which I now think I got ripped off... $400) and the headlights of cars show up on every line on the back window. Super annoying because it multiplies the headlights times 10. I already hate driving at night because oncoming headlights start messing with my brain. It looks like it has diminished a little since but still definitely there. Its hard to tell where the cars are behind you...

My rear window has 3M 50% and this affect has diminished somewhat over a few months. The tinter warned me about this before install & said he would remove it, if I wished. It is not so noticeable anymore.

35% Llumastar and no issues. From what I understand, the halo effect can happen when the film is heated too much and that better installers tend to shy away from much heating. Not sure if that's true, but I know the shop I used gets very high ratings and the film is very good quality.

Do all of the non-ceramic tints have this problem or does someone have one that is not? I am looking at the Llumar ATC, Wincos Ceramic, and suntek tints.

I have 3M crystalline 70% on the sides and 3M 50% on the back rear window. The 3M crystalline 70% takes out 50% of IR & 99% of UV, but is not likely to generate a ticket.
