S4 Grill - Dont Like it
#22
It wasn't the grey grill that bothered me so much. It was the gray filler plate. I hated it in every picture i saw. So much so i was asking my SA if I could somehow order a gloss black filler plate or have the dealer paint it before I picked up my car.
Wasn't going to happen from the dealer, so i was planning on either having the filler plate painted, or ordering a gloss black one online. After picking up the car and looking at it....i like the grey and the chrome accents. I'll probably keep it now. ::shrug::
Same with the new huge A8 grill. Hated it when i first saw it in pictures. I've seen two A8's in Tampa (Audi has a testing site somewhere nearby) and I have to say, it's grown on me.
But, it's a matter of taste. and luckily as others have pointed out, there are relatively easy ways to get a blacked out grill.

I actually think the blacked out look is kinda cheap and juvenile. Maybe its just cuz I'm a tad older.... but i never quite followed the whole black rims/black everything fad. I remember seeing blacked out rides on MTV and hip-hop music videos and thinking it looked ghetto.

There is!
It can be done very cheaply with a can of Rustoleum Universal Black spray paint. It comes in gloss and satin finish. Not sure about flat or matte finish. Im also not a fan of the blacked out grille either.

I think shiny or matte black with the chrome trim left as is would be nice too. I'm also not really into the fully blacked out grilles. The perfect combo, to me, would be to black out the gray parts of the grille and rear valence while leaving the chrome grille trim and chrome rear valence blade untouched. The S4 is about luxury and sport, so blacking everything out seems kind of off to me.

The A6 has a black gloss grille, which looks much better than gray. On Ibis white S4, the black grille looks much better. On the black S4, the chrome around the edge of the grille might look better (like the A4 grilles with glossy black and chrome surround).

That is why I would definitely keep the vertical chrome pieces. Plus I just think the chrome compliments the B8 lines.

It does not matter so much, if it looks like an A4, it still has the S4 drivetrain (3.0T DSG AWD SD), which is the ONLY reason, I bought an S4, instead of an A4.

When you're paying that much more for an S4 compared to A4, a little more exterior differentiation wouldn't hurt.
