It wasn't the grey grill that bothered me so much. It was the gray filler plate. I hated it in every picture i saw. So much so i was asking my SA if I could somehow order a gloss black filler plate or have the dealer paint it before I picked up my car.

Wasn't going to happen from the dealer, so i was planning on either having the filler plate painted, or ordering a gloss black one online. After picking up the car and looking at it....i like the grey and the chrome accents. I'll probably keep it now. ::shrug::

Same with the new huge A8 grill. Hated it when i first saw it in pictures. I've seen two A8's in Tampa (Audi has a testing site somewhere nearby) and I have to say, it's grown on me.

But, it's a matter of taste. and luckily as others have pointed out, there are relatively easy ways to get a blacked out grill.

I 100% agree with you on this.

It can be done very cheaply with a can of Rustoleum Universal Black spray paint. It comes in gloss and satin finish. Not sure about flat or matte finish. Im also not a fan of the blacked out grille either.

The S4 is about luxury and sport, so blacking everything out seems kind of off to me.
Agree, except I might think of blacking out the vertical chrome strips, just leaving the chrome surrounding the grille. I could swap in the A4 s-line grille to get this look, but I don't want my S4 to start looking like an A4 (that's why I don't understand why some people want to color their side view mirrors). Plus, you've got to keep the S4 look with the 7 verticals on the grille. Now that I've got myself started, why does Audi have to put so many S4 parts on the A4 s-line. When an M3 drives by, you never confuse it with a 335. When a B8 drives by, I have to look for a while to know if it's a true S or not. But maybe they just reserve the distinction for the RS cars.

The A6 has a black gloss grille, which looks much better than gray. On Ibis white S4, the black grille looks much better. On the black S4, the chrome around the edge of the grille might look better (like the A4 grilles with glossy black and chrome surround).

That is why I would definitely keep the vertical chrome pieces. Plus I just think the chrome compliments the B8 lines.

It does not matter so much, if it looks like an A4, it still has the S4 drivetrain (3.0T DSG AWD SD), which is the ONLY reason, I bought an S4, instead of an A4.

When you're paying that much more for an S4 compared to A4, a little more exterior differentiation wouldn't hurt.

i agree, thats why this lil $50 mod was one of the best thing i did. had my painter match the phantom black off my plate filler.
