There is a piece of (plastic?) surrounding the instrument cluster and NAV screen that looks awful in photos ... looks like silver plastic, to be honest. Does this material/color change with the Titanium package, or with the inclusion of piano black or stainless steel trim? The interior of the car is gorgeous, as with all Audis, which really makes this particular trim piece seem out of place. Or maybe in real life it looks better.

Doesn't change with package.... I don't think it looks to bad but most hate it.... Some have painted it.... Matt at ocarbon is making some with CF rap that is similar to the OEM weave... see link

Thanks, can't wait to see one of these installed ... they look great on the bench, should be a nice fit. I'm sure there will be (or already are) other aftermarket options as well.

I'm also looking at Matt's carbon trim pieces. His products seem to be as good or better than OEM from the pics, but I don't know anyone who has installed them first hand (he sells the other trim pieces [door inlays and transmission/mmi area] as well).
If anyone has first hand experience, would love to hear....

FWIW: when I ordered my car, this was the one thing that really bugged me. in fact I went back and test drove one the dealer had on the floor several times to see if that plastic part would bug me. I was convinced i'd upgrade to a carbon part once I took delivery...
Now that I have the car - I don't even notice it. Doesn't bug me at all. I doubt I'll even go through the hassle/expense of replacing with carbon.

Now I'm more bugged by the clunky airbag cover on the center of the steering wheel. Saw the wheel in the A8, why can't it be like that?
