S4 Lease Rate

S4 Lease Rate
I did some preliminary investigating on lease rates.
On a MY2010 S4 with an MSRP of $58,475 I was quoted for no money down, 10k miles and 36 month lease a price of $1150/month.
(Note for what it's worth, this is in Illinois so you get killed with taxes for the whole vehicle price rolled into lease payments for the term you lease.)
He also said I could do 42-month lease for $1050.
The residual he told me was at 51% for this car at 10k miles and that it was a limited production car.
Thoughts?

That's a terrible lease payment
You could lease a V8 M3 that stickers for 10 grand more for $200-300 less per month. Audi leases in general are terrible. Only a purchase makes economic sense with such crazy lease payments.

I priced out M3's before pulling the trigger on an S4 and a very well equipped M3 was well over $1250 with 12K miles and only necessities out of pocket.

The best audi lease rate now is .00187 on the 2010 S4. The residual I was quoted is 51% for 36 months on 15K /year. With audi care you can add 1% to the residual and with less miles you can add even more. So at 12K a year with audi care you could be looking at 53% to 54%. With 5K down we ran the numbers and I should be looking at a payment around $700ish. Or so I was told by my dealer. My cars MSRP will be $56,200 and I'm buying it for 1.5K over inovice and audi care is included for free.

Residual rates are published and set by Audi so there has to be a discrepancy somewhere as I was quoted 51% for 10k and you 51% for 15k. This isn't a 'per dealer' number unless the dealer is super shady and trying to pull something.
$1150 a month for a $58k car is f-ing ridiculous for a 36month lease and wouldn't even consider it.
Why would you pay $5k down on a leased car though? You said you were buying for 1.5k over invoice and you gave the MSRP price. So what price did they use for invoice?

Yeah I'm not sure why we were quoted different residuals. Although rates and residuals do change monthly. Mine could have been old news? But I'd double check. Anyway, the invoice wasn't exact, it was calculated as 93% of MSRP which I was told should be very close. So around $52,250. The 5K down is to reduce the monthly. Just paying part of the lease upfront... I have the cash from the sell of my previous car and would rather have a lower monthly. Not everyone likes to put a little cash down on a lease, but I've got no issue with it. The only time it would come back to get me is if the car was totalled and GAP insurance kicked in. My 5K would never be seen again...

I pay $850 a month for my 09 A4 3.2 prestige...that stickered for around $50k. So $1150 does sound about right in the world of audi leasing. Still very high.
