Maybe a year model thing? It looks like a lot of early adopters seem to have weak seat warmers, while some of the people to get theirs later in the line up seem to be warmer.

Mine take a few minutes to warm up at 4 and then I turn it down to 2. Are the seat backs heated or just the bottoms? I have not noticed any heat in the backs but it could be because I have a jacket on.

I don't use them a whole lot but they don't get very hot at 6. My wife's BMW X3 seat warmers are better. Faster to heat and hotter. Get with the program, Audi!

This would be an interesting poll.
My hypothesis is this - it boils down to the seat finish:
Those with Alcantara feel the seat gets too hot above 5 and those with Nappa feel it doesn't get hot enough.
Put me in the bucket, it doesn't get hot enough. I could fry an egg on the seats of my B7 A4 above 5. My S4 feels like the med setting on a heating pad when it is on 6.
Cheers.

Alcantara here and mine get burning hot at 6. However, Ive noticed that it seems to vary with the temp inside the car. When I first start the car up and its very cold, the seats get hot within a minute and stay hot but cool down after about 5-10 minutes. Next time I start the car, say if Ive run errands, and the car is still warm, the seats dont get as hot.
Maybe its got smart heat?

I never set them above 3 as it gets uncomfortably warm on my ***. It's a 04/2010 build with all leather.
I have noticed that (I think) the heat gets spread around the seat more if the seat extender pad is adjusted so it's not extended at all.

These seat heaters get to full heat within a short period of time, however, they don't get anywhere as hot as my TT. S4 at 6 is like the setting in the TT at 4.
