Ok got the car into my drively. Some awesome neighbors helped sand and cut through some of the ice. After sanding, gentle acceleration and got up the hill without any tirespin. Maybe I could have got out after all. Didn't need chains!!
Either way. Never taking it out again w/o a/s tires. That was enough drama for a season.

They started this year using a salt/sand mix, previously no - the salt hits the storm sewers and goes right into streams, causing issues with the salmon runs - there are a lot of staunch nature supporters here and anything marginally dharmful to nature is seldom used.

Salt is my enemy as I am an independent accident investigator. If they were to stop using salt/sand I could retire on the money I would make from claims within a year. I don't want anybody to get seriously injured just enough to pursue a claim.

seinsmeld13- We do not use salt normally in WA state, but studded snow tires are legal Nov 1 to April 1. We do use sand though. City of Seattle started to use some salt after the 2008 snow debacle as NWS4Guy said.

"WSDOT’s salt brine anti-icer is a liquid compound consisting of salt, sugar, mineral and water. A 23.3 percent solution of salt makes up 75 percent of the compound. De-sugared molasses makes up 20 percent and calcium chloride five percent. The salt is the main snow- and ice-fighting ingredient in the compound. The de-sugared molasses provides corrosion inhibiting properties as well as helping to bind the product to the road so that it has better longevity. Calcium chloride helps the compound maintain its effectiveness at lower temperatures."
Supposidly it's "77 percent less corrosive than straight salt."
Even still, good idea to run through a car wash.

Took the power washer to mine on Friday, met up with rtkskicar and DrVolkl yesterday so they could check out the chip - I think they liked it, Doc beat on my car harder than you did Brandon, even got the rear end to come loose on a cloverleaf with all 3 of us in the car
