I searched the forums, but could not find anything. Yes i'm new. I'm just ending the 1200 mile break-in period and starting to push my car a little more.

When in manual mode and I accelerate fast, I hear a snorting sound, like a blow off valve or something, when the DSG shifts from 1st to second and 2nd to 3rd, its quite loud. is this normal, where is this sound coming from?

that is the infamous "DSG fart shift noise" that comes when the DSG rev matches for fast up-shifts.

I am a fan of MTs, but was just trying to answer his question. I think one of the DSG guys came up with the DSG fast shift sounds like a "fart". If you have a loud exhaust it can become very noticeable.

Its just how Audi makes the exhuast more sporty sounding when shifting, the TT's do it also

I didn't like the sound initially but after exceeding 5,000 kms the exhaust sound does get better IMO. I will probably miss it when I switch my 2011 S4 with the new 2012 A6 (with the 8 sp tranny). But there's always APR or Stasis

I'm just giving you a hard time - I'm an MT guy all the way too.

I am curious though do other cars with "similar systems" - like the Porsche PDK - make a similar sound?
