Default So about that plastic-y gauge cluster trim...

So many great things about this car, but it seems many of us aren't so in love with the silver-colored gauge cluster trim. I'm inclined to try to pop it off and make it black. But first, some questions:

1. Has anyone done this themselves?
2. Are those trim pieces easy to pop off and on?
3. Any suggestions about how to color the trim black? Paint? Dip? Other?
4. Or does anyone know of a vendor who is offering or planning to offer an aftermarket trim replacement for the gauge cluster (other than the carbon-fiber wrap work that might become available as detailed on that other forum)?

Thanks.

I wouldn't hate it nearly as much if it didn't rattle. Not sure if it would look good black either. It's my understanding that it just pops off. It is held on with clips I believe.

I think it would look good in carbon fiber and should come that way with that option. Seems odd that it doesn't....

I've seen some people having great results wrapping trim with carbon fiber cloth.....might be worth a shot

Is anyone else noticing the rattling? This is definitely my least favorite part of the interior.

I have two rattles, one by the dash cheap stuff, and also the housing of the MMI screen which is the worst one by far. Smooth roads its not so bad, but some bumpiness makes it bad. It's not bad enough that I feel the need to take it in.
