speedometer reading 160mph vs 200mph

First and foremost, a speedo should be usable. The 2010-2012 analog speedo was practically useless -- I never glanced at it once in my 2010 -- and so like everyone else, I had come to rely on the digital speedo. Admittedly, I use both now in my 2013. But the new analog speedo is finally usable. Can't tell you how many posts I've read complaining about the previous speedo. Thank you Audi for listening (i.e., living up to the Audi name). Do you really need a speedo to read 200mph to validate the car's performance?

One of the stalks on the right of the steering wheel has a button on the lower edge that will cycle thru some modes, and one of the modes will redisplay the digital speedo. After starting the nav, you may need to hit that button 2-3 times to get the digital speedo, but you can get it. Hope that helps.

The change to 160mph is an improvement. Now at "normal" speeds one can actually glance down and quickly see how fast he's going. As it is now with my 200mph speedo I use only the digital display to know my speed.
Having it go to 200 is pointless for >99.9% of the driving any one of us will do. Maybe a few of you exceed 160mph (on a race track maybe?) once in awhile but are you really looking at your speedo at that speed? As someone else mentioned, the digital display works above 160mph if you must look.

haha most likely never, considering the governor at 155, but was up there twice and can say the car handles almost better at those speeds then it does at 60mph, these cars are absolute machines, its quite incredible.. the only car i am considering but as a toy at some point is a 911(most likely will stick with audi for the DD either way).. but thats still a few years away.. for now the s4 definitely does the trick..

It never bothered me that they changed it, but if anyone is actually going 200MPH be it the track, etc...should you really be looking down at the speedo anyway? :-) Even with the speedo going to 160, I still look at the digital because it's easier to read.

I think by saying 160/200 one is referring to the scale that the 2 speedos are at. Normally people drive < 80mph which means only small portion of the dial is utilized on B8 as opposed to roughly half of the dial used on B8.5.
