I am sorry if this is a repetitive question; I have the 19" Ti wheels and Dunlop summer tires. I live in NJ so for the winter months I want to change to UHP all season, like Continental Extreme contact DWS. My question is can I put hese tires on the 19" wheels or am I better of getting a set of 18" wheels for the winter with these UHP all season tires?

Then it's even more embarrassing later , if you make it that far , when a Tahoe local driving a rusted out 35 yr old RWD American sedan with snow tires flies around you and your high tech AWD German sport sedan !

I have used dedicated snows in past, but now I just use P Zero Nero UHP All Season yr rnd to avoid wheel swapping . For an occasional visitor like you, that doesn't make sense - better to just rent an SUV for your ski weekends.
Thank you, Inclined. My wife has a Lexus RX330 (4 wheel drive). Do you think that might be a better choice for ski trips? I don't know what tires RX uses.

Living in Atlanta? You'll be fine with the summer tires. No need to change. As others have said, don't drive on that one day a year when it snows. The city shuts down anyway, so you'll be fine. I used to live in Raleigh, NC and it has very similar winter weather. Once or twice we would get snow and that would be it. Kept summer tires on all of my cars. Just drove a little more carefully in the early morning when the temps were in the high 20s or low 30s. You'll be fine.

You should be fine
Most AWD cars will do fine with all season tires, esp vehicles with higher ground clearance like the RX, as you do run into occas unplowed entry into some driveways here and there, esp with fresh snow during the day.

i know a few year round residents in the Tahoe basin who live atop mountains who use studded tires because of long downhill icy sections, but that is something the ski crowd type visitors never deal with.

I live North of Pittsburgh Pa. I went with the VMR 710s 18" Gunmetal 18x8.5 with Michelin PS3s. 245-40-18 Again... car will go like a tank! Get a dedicated Winter/Wheel Tire package you won't regret it!

You should be able to get $200 - 250 per tire. If you were local to me I'd pay you a grand easy for your stock summer tires, good luck.

We just got a 2023 S5 and live in Northeast too. After a week of super cold mornings, I switched to the Continental performance all season tires. There were days where the Bridgestone summer tires would slide out the driveway with almost no grip. It just snowed and was 20 degrees. No issues driving with the new tires. Probably going to keep these on year round and sell the others.
