What are the symptoms of the issue? I know with my sunroof, sometimes I try to close it and it stops, then just reopens itself and I occasionally have to "help it along" by gently helping push it closed so it doesn't automatically reopen. But I'm assuming this is a different issue?

The issue isn't mechanical, the open/close mechanisms work fine. It's a pressure vibration throughout the car when the roof is open traveling at ~35 MPH. Think of blowing across the top of a soda bottle. The pumpkin deflector disrupts the airflow so the stable vibration doesn't set up.

Its called buffeting, it is a product of resonant frequencies of pressure creating an unbearable pounding sound. You can easily reproduce it by driving with all your windows closed and opening only the rear windows (or just 1 of the rears I believe)
