Default Surging low rpm's

Has anyone experienced a surging while driving slowly at about 1,300-1,600 rpm?

I have noticed it a few times when coasting to a stop sign or in a parking lot with very little throttle.

Haven't seen anything posted in the past. Maybe an isolated issue

I've definitely felt that. Not sure what it's all about.

Ditto. Bone stock 2012 with DSG. As I recall I was in Comfort mode at the time. Going to play with settings to see if that has any impact.

Hmmm...upshifting to 2nd or 1st? I have DSG and haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary, but I could see some people calling the transmission shifting "rough" while slowing...

I have a 2012 with DSG and it happens in all settings. The car is going in to the shop in a few days so they can look at it.

It's normal and it'll go away... Lots of people had it for the first 500 miles or so.

To me it just felt like clutch modulation.... but it didn't last 37000km!

You might be right. As the same feeling can be had as the clutch was slowly engaging and disengaging and the rpm's modulating accordingly.
