Is there much of a ride comfort difference on 19s vs 18s?

I am happy with the 19's but have not tried anything else. Just starting to look for winter wheels and tires and suspect they will be smaller.

My previous B6 had 19's on when I bought it, the ride was too crashy so I swapped to the OEM Avus, and this also reduced the tramlining. You'll get it with any wider tyre. So 18's on my B8 would undoubtedly reduce the effect, but it's a pretty negligible characteristic on this newer S4 incarnation, and I much prefer the look of the 19's anyway

Just replaced my 255/35-19" summer tires with 18" winter tires. The 18's have a noticeably softer ride. This said, I will still be glad to get back to the summer tires next year.

I agree...just put on 18 inch winter with dunlop winter sport. Softer ride, a little more road noise due to winter tread, and definately does not look as good as the 19's but worth it for the winter.
