dude it's a supercharger. forget the turbo badge that audi put on it. many of us are still hacked off that they didn't go back to the twin turbo V6.

LOL "Turbo" is easier to type than "supercharger"!

More seriously, the BMW 335 has twin turbos, right? The S4 with a supercharger is judged as a better car by most reviewers.

“Extensive tests of the V6 conducted by Audi engineers reveal the TVS supercharger provides optimal vehicle performance,” said Joao Faria, president of Eaton’s Powertrain and Specialty Controls Business. “When combined with direct injection, the TVS surpasses twin turbochargers in packaging, starting performance and responsiveness.”

Default Try gear shifts at lower RPM

The car with this power you dont need to shift too high. I try shifts around 2000 rpm and do OK in the city with dynamic throttle on: 17-20 mpg.
In the freeway with cruise control i am close to 30 mpg at 70 mpg via trip computer. Occassionally I show off on the street but most of the time I am pretty mild driver.

Geez, why? I've been driving that engine for six years in my Allroad, and while it's a fine enough engine, it gets worse mileage than the S4, it is less powerful than the S4 (chipped I'm still below 350 and I've been convinced that the S4 is making 360 unchipped), and you have to deal with the dreaded turbo lag if you don't keep it wound up all the time, and if you run it hot you need to let it cool before shutting it down if you don't want to fry the turbos. The stock turbos are K03's, word is that a swap to K04's (they're larger) will get you up over 300 unchipped but still that's not 360.

That is a bunch of marketing BS. I owned an Audi twin turbo V6 (B5 S4, stage 3) for many years. My old car will smoke this one easily. The main reason Audi went to a supercharger from turbocharger is to reduce warranty claims ($$, only). They had too many warranty claims with the 2.7T engine. A supercharger is much harder to aftermarket tweak than a turbocharger IMO, reducing warranty claims for them. It is much easier to get aftermarket HP with a turbo. The 335i shows this very well. Just because you can beat a stock 335i, you will get smoked by a chipped one. There is some light in the tunnel, the main reason I am here. This is an electronically controlled supercharger (electronic dump valve) and has a another ~8-9 psi of extra boost to be gained with just a chip (50-70 WHP). The supercharger runs at ~11 psi, while the supercharger will put put out 21 psi.

For what it's worth, I've been averaging 21.5 mpg, calculating manually each time a fill up... I don't you paddle shifters or the sport mode. I have an automatic and rarely floor it or speed around alot... I am pretty satisfied with the mpg but wish the gas tank was bigger. I have about 1800 miles on mine at this point.

Change your driving to be extremely conservative and see if it makes a difference?

On a side note, I just got in my S6 today (selling it on ebay/youtube) and man does that car make my new S4 feel so inferior :-( ... But I'll take the savings in gas and the lower monthly payment!

What's marketing BS? I drove that car an hour ago and for the last almost 100K miles, I'm pretty familiar with it. Of course it's not a stage 3 B5 S4, but it is the same engine at base.
