Default Tire & Wheel Size

If I were to reuse my tires (245/40R18), what wheel size should I be looking at : 18x8.0 or 18x8.5 ?

I believe that the stock 18" wheels are 18x8.

Interesting. So Audi fits 18x8 with 245/40/R18 ? I thought 245 was more for 18x8.5... this is all confusing.

My 2011 S4 came with 18"x8" wheels, ET47 offset, which I replaced with VMR 18"x8.5" & ET38 offset, same size tire, Conti DWS 245/40ZR18.

I went BBS for our 2011S4 (see BBS-USA.com for recommended wheel sizes in 18 and 19 configs): RGRs in 18x8 for winter (with 235/45/18 Pilot Alpins) and RS-GTs in 18x8 for summer (245/40/18 Pilot Sport 3s). They fit the 18x8's just fine, and don't look too fat.

(yes I know, the stock ADS suspension looks pretty high!)

IMO, a little extra sidewall (on the 18x8) can help prevent curbing that can happen with a more-stretched tire (as on a wider rim).
