TPMS optional for Canadian 2011 Audi S4?
Hi, just wondering if any of the Canadian members have ordered their 2011 Audi S4 with TPMS enabled? It was disabled for the 2010 MY. I heard it's optional now for the 2011 MY.
My dealer told me they have never enabled TPMS via VAG-COM before. I highly doubt that.

Yes it is an option, I believe $350 for 2010. Or you can save your cash as I did and did a vagcom free. I was told by the dealer it was impossible to activate.

Yep the cable is $350, and the software is upgradable for life with the cable from ross-tech.com - Then you can use the cable and software for other people and making other changes to the car on top of that.

My doubt though is having decoded the options for my S4 tpms lamp on dash is listed as not fitted...so i assume it wouldn't show up even if enabled with vcds? or is that because its on the DIS instead??? i don't see a lamp so...
Also, looks like if i read it right, the 2010 onwards S4 tpms is a much simpler system than the last, no sensors??? so just a basic wheel speed calculation....hmmm all a bit confused now - lol

I did it myself on my 2010. It was easy and worked perfectly. It detected a leak in my left front tire when I picked up a nail before bigger problems could have occurred. As mentioned you need the correct ABS module for it to work, which some 2010's didn't have, but given that it's now an "option" on 2011's I would bet they're all TPMS ready. If this is the case your money is better spent on the cable as you can then do other great things like disabling the winking front LED's when turning.

I got it enabled on my 2009 A4. I went to a small neighbourhood shop that is familiar with VW/Audi and the mechanic charged me $35 to do it. I brought the procedure with me that I copied from here: http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagComABS.html
Be aware that you need to loose about 25% of air pressure before the system detects it. I tried several time to check the system, but I was not removing enough air... Once the system has learned the normal air pressure, if you remove 25% of the air pressure, it detects it in about 5 km and tells you which tire.
Very cool !
