Quick question. When pressing the trunk button on the key is it supposed to open the trunk (like the door button) or just unlock it. On several occasions I have walked out to my car to find the trunk wide open - not a good thing! The only thing I could think of was that I accidently pressed the trunk button on the key - but mine doesn't open the trunk, just unlocks it.

My remote and trunk button both pop the trunk lid up. I had the same problem a few times, when I came out of my office, I found the trunk wide open. I figured out in my case, the remote in my pocket was getting activated when I sat at my desk, and the car sits right outside in the lot on the same floor just one thin wall away and I think it was getting opened accidentally. I switched the remote key to a different place and it stopped happening.

Might take some practice, but after this happened to me a couple times, I made sure that the buttons were facing my thigh when the key is put in my pocket. This way if I sat against something(chair arm, pile of bricks etc.) it wouldnt activate.
