I took it to the track for the first time this last weekend and the first comment out of any one was "I love the sound of your car".

This is my car right after install. It's gotten throatier since then.

Sounds great. What difference does adding the AWE downpipes offer?

Well congrats! I don't think you can go wrong with either an AWE, Milltek, or APR exhaust. Only a matter of preference...

I don't know if the DPs add anything. I was just going for sound.

Our Downpipes will help you fine tune the sound.

Compared to the Exhaust only (with the factory downpipes), our Non-Resonated Downpipes will make the sound louder and more aggressive while our Resonated Downpipes will mellow out the sound and make things a little quieter and smoother.

We recommend the Resonated Downpipes to most clients, but which one will best fit your needs ultimately depends on you.

Which kind of sound are you going for?

So is it fair to say that stock downpipes + AWE catback is a good middle of the road compromise between the all-out loud sound given by the non-res downpipes + catback and more muted sound of the resonated downpipes + catback?

Sounds like a good compromise.

What kind of drone or other issues are expected on a DSG car with just the rear section?

I want something that is mellow under cruising but throaty under throttle. How much of a difference is there between stock dp's w/ AWE exhaust vs AWE resonated dp's w/ AWE exhaust?

Also, is there any better throttle response with the AWE dp's vs stock dp's?

In terms of volume, our B8 S4 Exhaust with the factory downpipes is closer to our Full Resonated Exhaust (AWE Resonated Downpipes + AWE Exhaust) than our Non Resonated Exhaust (AWE Non-Resonated Downpipes + AWE Exhaust).

The Exhaust itself is a great upgrade, but for a DSG car I'd strongly recommend the Resonated Downpipes. They help control the part throttle volume better than the factory units and are worthwhile for both transmissions.

Throttle response is the same between our downpipes and the factory units.

I'd go with our Resonated Downpipes and Exhaust for the reasons I mentioned above.

Here are some thoughts from one of our 6MT clients who had the factory downpipes and then upgraded to our Resonated Downpipes.

For the first week I had stock DP's in. After the resonated pipes were installed it was like night and day. The sound was still exotic and as loud as I wanted it to be at WOT. But daily driving around town it was barely perceptible that I even had exhaust which is what I wanted.
Hope that helps!

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
