I couldn't really find a JL that find what I was looking for. This one is a great sub but more power than I need and way more than I want to spend on just the component (http://www.crutchfield.com/s_136106V...and%7cJL+Audio).
The only other JL I was looking at is http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...p?series_id=15 but it isn't powerful enough I think. The beauty of dual voice coils is that they are extremely efficient, can be switched to a different amp down the line if I want more power and are cost effective.
I did look at that when I was trying to find subs. I found another one that is higher end and really great but the mounting bracket looked like it had a 12" diameter and I didn't think that would fly. I also know that none of these are free-air subs and I am wondering if I will regret that. I noticed that yours was not free air either. Having any problems with crispness so far?

^ That is good to hear. I am not too worried about it either because I don't want booming bass just enough to fill in the current holes. I know what it should sound like but unfortunately, I have no idea what the best products in car audio are. I thought JBL would be good because they manufacture some of the best power and unpowered speakers in the mid-level price range. I am guessing it will take me a couple tries until I am completely happy.
Okay well I am off to a recommended (by an AZ member) audio shop to check some things out and I will update later. This is gonna be my project for the week while I am enjoying spring break and only a couple days of work :P

If you wish to use the stock amplifier, then Kicker 10" 8 ohm speaker will work since it is recommended for free air will applications.
One could also use the JL Audio 10W1v2-8 speaker.
The Kicker Comp 10" 8 ohm puts out plenty of bass to balance with the B&O, but lots of Dynamat is needed for the rear deck.
The Kicker 10" Comp speaker needs a 1.25" thick spacer (0.5"width annulus) to fit in the stock hole since the 10" Kicker requires a 9.125" hole and the stock Audi mounting hole is around 8.875"
The JL Audio 10W1v2-8 speaker requires a 8.9375" mounting hole, so it almost fits without a spacer but has a 3dB lower efficiency than the Kicker.
The JL install is the easiest and only needs about 1/8" spacer.

How much dynamat are we talking here? Would 4 sq ft for the top and bottom of the deck be enough or more???

Okay, I have ordered 2 subs. I got the Kicker 10CVR104 and the Kicker 10C108. I am going to dynamat my rear deck and install these both hopefully this weekend. I will takes pics and vids of both with my impressions to let everyone know how it does. I may keep the 10CVR104 even if I don't install if now so I can install it with an amp at 4 ohms down the line. This will also be a good comparison for those of you that went with 8 ohm subs or are still on the fence about what to do. I am going to try both with the stock amp and see how things go.
Thanks for all the help!
