Default Updated: V8's vs V6T

Out of curiosity, I plotted the HP and torque curves on the same chart comparing the various existing V8's and the new V6T.

Default So the 4.2 V8 exceeded the HP of the V6 ONLY after 6500 RPMS

Add the torque is always greater. With 25% better gas mileage. Who says there is no free lunch. No brainer to me that the S/C V6 is the "BETTER" engine. Won't sound as good though.

Default I like you.

Nice work. This should quiet down the V8 lubbers.

nice work !
could you also plot it against the 354hp v8 fsi from the S5 (which has also 440Nm peak torque) ? (slightly offtopic, i known, but it would still be interesting)

Default What's with the artificial-looking flat spot on the top of the V6 curve?

Looks like power is deliberately capped above 5500 rpm. Perhaps there is a wastegate on the supercharger that cuts in above 5500?

Sounds like a mod to get more power might be trivial.

Default Torque cap to save the transmission - just like the RS 6 (current and former)

Dotted lines represent stock C5 RS 6 power and torque. Curve look familiar?

Now if only Audi would get together with their transmission supplier and come up with something that would handle the true potential torque, THAT would be fun!

All that said, the new supercharged S4 motor looks like a winner to me....

Hmm, that doesn't make sense, the HP is capped, the torque drops off
