Dont forget to run the path analyzer, if it is taking that long maybe there are characters that is wiring out the MMI. Just a little FYI

Guess I spoke too soon. Now the Playlists are not recognized and when attempting to play certain albums the stereo display panel says something like "no recognized music files". Using the laptop to check the SD card, I verified that all the files are intact.

I realise I'm replying to an old thread - apologies... But the info in here helped me get my SSD in a USB3 caddy working. Formatting with the mini partition wizard software which jeffc mentioned did the trick for me. So, SSDs do work!

my thanks to everyone in this thread. I was able to get a 1TB Seagate expansion drive with every piece of music I own up and running because of the info in this thread. I have about 280GB of music, every ounce of which accessible from my MMI system. my load times are about 15 seconds. a small price to pay to have almost 300GB of tunes at my fingertips. I haven't created any playlists yet - that's next. honestly, the best part of this is having my album art back. I was using a 160GB ipod classic, which is not compatible with the red grommetted ipod cable.

I took a usb microSD adapter and plugged in into the usb AMI cable with a 32 GB micro card. It recognized the entire drive through USB, even songs and directories the same microSD card that was not recognized from micro slot in the car. To be clear, the same card in the slot did not play or browse all the songs. Play the same card in the usb slot via an adapter, it sees it all!

So i don't know if this has been answered, but with the usb adapter, are you able to attach phones? i attached mine(5s) and it said the same thing as op.

Is there a better option? do i need to update the software maybe? I am new to the whole MMI system. I don't want to spend $75 on a bluetooth port ami cable, because i don't see any reason a regular bluetooth to 30 pin shouldn't work(it doesn't). I assume if i buy a ami to 3.5mm cable that will also fail, just because of my luck so far, can anyone shed some light? All i want is audio, i updated this bc i found out i have mmi, because i have backup cam nav and no aux cord in the console. Really all i want is an aux cord.... or iphone 5s integration
