Default Ward's 10 Best Engines for 2011

AFAIK an electric motor isn't an engine, but there are two of them on the list. I don't think I've ever seen a Volvo engine make the grade and a Honda ever not make the list.

*3.0L TFSI Supercharged DOHC V-6 (Audi S4)

* 3.0L N55 Turbocharged DOHC I-6 (BMW 335i)

* 1.6L Turbocharged DOHC I-4 (Mini Cooper S)

* 3.6L Pentastar DOHC V-6 (Dodge Avenger)

* 5.0L DOHC V-8 (Ford Mustang GT)

* 1.4L DOHC I-4/111kW Drive Motor (Chevrolet Volt)

* 5.0L Tau DOHC V-8 (Hyundai Genesis)

* 80kW AC Synchronous Electric Motor (Nissan Leaf)

* 2.0L DOHC I-4 Turbodiesel (Volkswagen Jetta TDI)

* 3.0L Turbocharged DOHC I-6 (Volvo S60)

no offense to Volvo owners (I was once one myself) - but any "best of" list that has Volvo on it... well, it's not much of a "best of" list in my book.

I drove an early 2010 A4 2.0T with a B7 frame as a loaner while they were replacing the waterpump on my S4 a couple weeks ago. I remember my 2007 3.2 A4 (B7 frame) with some fondness. But, I was overjoyed to get my S4 (B8 frame) back with it's much bigger and more complliant B8 frame. Even more important, though, the S4's supercharged engine is lightyears ahead of the A4's turbochaged 4. Lightyears!

Nothing do to with the packaging, just the engine.

290hp/260lb-ft torque out of a 3.6L V6 is nothing special in 2010; Honda and Nissan had 3.5L V6s with higher output almost five years ago.

The B8 A4 was introduced for MY2009. Either you were driving a B8, or the car was a 2008, not 2010.

Now, it was an Avant. Does that make any difference?

no difference. B7 was over in 08

although...if you were in Spain on vacation, the B7 lives on

The car said 2010 A4 Avant on the key tag for the loaner, had a 2.0T engine, but it had a B7 frame. I thought that was weird for a 2010, but when I asked about it was told it was just an early 2010. I thought that was kinda weird.... What do ya think? Just mislabled?
