It's the heat from the water. I'm sure it has something to do with the polymer chains in the top layer reconnecting or something similar.

Ive had this on my '11 for about 5 months now. Gotta keep it lubed/polished with their brand of polish to keep it shiny or it dulls. Just added the film additive to my waxing routine.
