I just had the unfortunate pot hole move right out in front of me at the cost of two front tires. Was out of town and had to take what tires i could find (255/35/19) and I ended up getting the Sumitomo HTR Z III (High Technology Radials-3rd generation). So far they seem to be okay..one thing i do not like is that they are flush with the rim so if I come close to the curb it will hit the rim and not the tire. But when i checked the pressure to make sure that all the tires were holding air, I noticed that they were all at 41 psi. What...i thought it would be more like 32 or 35..but 41..yep..that is what is recommended on the inside of the door frame. (I feel every pebble on the rode) As the weather gets colder the psi will drop and i will probably keep it at around 35 or so. What are you running..my rims are Audi's 19 peelers with OEM Dunlops (rear with 9,300 miles) and now two new Sumitomos.

My car came with the tires set at 41 and I was also surprised to see 41 as the recommended pressure. I thought that was too stiff a ride. I run my tires at 36 and have no problems. In other cars I have seen high pressures recommended for high speeds, 100mph plus.

There was a thread on this earlier but not sure 'tire pressure' was in the thread title. Some S4 drivers are using 39 for front and 36 for rear. I tried that out and it seems good to me. My tires were lower than that when I bought it used, so it took a little driving time to get used to the new pressure levels. My gas consumption seemed to lower a bit with slightly higher pressure. I'm on factory 18s but not sure that makes a difference. I tried 41 with a prior VW and didn't like the ride with that much pressure.

I don't have the manual in front of me but I remember reading the recommended for a driver or driver/passenger is 38F/36R. If you will have a full car (5 passenger), it's recommended to run @ 41 psi all around. I run Conti DWS @ 40psi. A bit stiff, but I like it.
