Default Wheel Defect/Chipping or flaking

OK, I figured I would start a wheel thread since I have read a few complaints about similar issues.

Below are 2 wheels where I have seen flaking, chipping, etc. I recall about 1 week after taking delivery of my S4 i saw a flake at the edge of my front wheel.

Most recently, I saw 4 areas on the right rear wheel. Have a look.

BTW, AoA states they do not warranty their wheels. I have never heard of this. When I own Lexus, wheels were covered. AoA told me that they dont make the wheel so they dont cover under warranty. My thought was "Huh?" They came new with the car? and I paid extra for them? Its not like I bought the wheels after market. How could the wheels not be covered?

sounds like a crock to me, they don't make the ECU, lights, transmission, supercharger, stereo... but they still warranty those

I have some pitting on the inside of my 19" s line wheels(RS4 style). Thought it might be caused by the brake dust. The 3rd picture looks more like it was from road debris. But can't really tell from the picture

its shaky when

1. 2 wheels have the issue
2. Others have complained

I have had 2 problems with wheels and I have owned close to 30 cars

1. Chroming them which I have done many times I had wheels on my 300zx and they lasted 8 years before they began to peel. I had 1992 corvette and bought chromed wheels and it happend just after 2 years. Chrome peeling is a simple matter of chemistry and physics. Eventually, even good chrome plating will peel.

2. Road rash (which is attributed to the driver) which is obvious

If it is in fact road debris (which I have never ever experienced) one then has to question the workmanship. This is similar to some of the windshiled comlaints that owners are beging to complain about. After awhile, too many reported cases and there is something wrong

What seems to be some flaking for me is on the inside of the rim behind that spokes. I have to scrub it and make sure its not some caked on dirt but im pretty sure its flaking off.

Those are not flakes, that is from rock impact damage. It looks like some road tar rocks or something hit your wheels.
