Third time it happens in a row and only once the engine is hot : whistling noise (high pitch) at idle that goes away with the slightest touch on the gas pedal.

Has Anyone experienced the same problem ?

Google tells me it could be a crankcase breather valve...

not sure what that could be but i'd be interested to know if you end up finding the source of it.

My B7 A4 had something like that. It think it was the crankcase vent valve or something like that. It didn't take long for them to fix. I would guess that the S4 has something similar.

I have had something similar to this, not sure what it was, but it never activated any warning lights and has disappeared. When I was getting the whistle sound it was very faint...is this the same?

I had the whistle after I had my pump replaced (as did some others). It inevitably went away, sounded like this:

Thanks zillmc, I have the exact same noise but my water pump was replaced a few months ago already and I did not notice the noise before. Maybe when it's cold not only the breaks squeal but also the engine whistles ?

Went to Audi and since they couldn't tell where the noise came from (and the car is still under guarantee), they kept the car to run a thorough check... Hopefully nothing serious

Please post what the issue is, as I have the same noise. Just started and only seems to happen at idle. Car is running great, just curious as to what it could be.
