Why no automatic folding mirrors?

That's how my 2009 car folded them. I'll put up a video tomorrow on how my 2010 car does it.
It's quite different.

I just read the instructions. Wow. There's no way I can do all that without breaking something. I used to install stereo systems in my old car for fun and used to break stuff all the time, and this looks a thousand time harder than that. I'd rather pay someone to do this. Would Audi dealership or a regular mechanic be able to do this?

hmmmm not sure. I've just re-watched your vid in full screen and maybe it is the same.
The 2009 just folded them flat in.
The 2010 folds them in and up.
I think maybe the camera angle hides the angling up a bit. They could be the same after all. I'll post mine any way for comparison.

Scotty, they're probably the same. =)
Makes no sense to me that my wife's Q5 P+ has seat memory and folding mirrors (that fold in and up like in vwong's video) while our more expensive S4 P+s are lacking those features...

I did the install myself as well and it went smoothly. I followed Dave's instructions on AudiEnthusiast and everything went the way he said it would. My biggest mistake was that I did it on a relatively cold day so I broke two door clips (cold plastic...not a big deal since I got extras from ECS) and I wasn't able to fish out the broken plastic bits from the clip that holds the mirror harness to the door (and now I can hear them rattling around inside the door). The hardest part is definitely taking the heating wires off the mirrors and taking the caps off but I didn't break anything when I did it. Works flawlessly and gives me more piece of mind when I'm parking in the city.

So you got the ones in the top link? They have dimming installed, and does this work if you got a US version that didn't have auto dimming? I assume they are just 2 way mirrors in this one that use a light sensor to darken like a rear mirror does when light hits them, and only requires the power run to them?
