Default Why SD cards?

I don't get the advantage. I can burn a cd in seconds and have it forever for pennies, never care if I lose it and use it pretty much anywhere. Why use SD cards? I'm not against them, I just don't get the benefits.

You can fit more on an SD card than a CD. You are limited to 700mb on a CD vs. up to 32gb on an SD card. Plus SD cards are cheap, more durable and more portable than CDs are.

I just bought an 8gb SD card in anticipation of delivery of my S4. Apparently the sound from the iPod dock isn't that great. So I plan to save my songs onto the SD card using the highest sound quality available for iTunes (forgot the technical name for this).

Is it possible to rip songs from a CD to the jukebox, or can this only be done with an SD card?

sorry- being lazy here (not searching thru the posts)--- quick question.... can you download music stored on I-tunes onto an SD card w/o some prevention feature built in I-Tunes?

I am always swapping out my IPod between cars---would prefer not to...

thx

Default The MMI will not convert audio CD format to digital data format

It will play audio CDs, but the files for juke box must be in digital data file format, such as mp3, AAC or WMA

and if you want to add a new song to your cd, you will have to reburn the whole cd just to add that 1 new song. whereas on a sd card, u can just drag and drop.

Default Just don't trust that all data in the SD is long term

This is a FLASH card and can lose data. Always keep a backup. The SD card is called "Secure Digital" but it is not really secure.

I didn't know SD cards hold up to 32 gigs, I googled them and the article said 1 gig, 32 makes a better case for using them. But with about 80 gigs of music on my ipod I don't know why I wouldn't just use that. I can see how the cards would come in handy, though.

Because this is SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity), standard SD caps out at 4Gigs I believe. Our MMI can read as high as 32G capacity.
