Window tint dilema.....

I went with 15% all around and 35% on the windshield . I previously had 38%/28% on my Mustang GT and thought it did an insufficient job of cutting glare - especially on long trips.
My S4 is a DD so it sees a mix of day/night city/country. No problems at the current tint levels (but perhaps eyeballs and tint types/manufacturers vary). Best to actually sit/drive in a car with various tint levels. Everything looks much lighter from the inside than outside.

After looking at these pictures I think 35% all around is the way to go. I have a phantom black on black 2012 s4. I was thinking of going 50% as I don't want to look like a gangster but I think I might go with the 35%. Plus it's the legal limit in Massachusetts.

I also like the 50% on this a4, i think the mirrored tint makes it look a little darker..at least in this light

Hey jaybar, check with a tint shop on the MA legal limit. I heard a rumor that MA just changed the value from 35% to something lighter, but it may have just been a rumor. Let us know! If you need a recommendation on a tint shop, there is a thread in the New England regional forum with some comments:

I have a 2012 black on black s4 and have 18% on front two windows and 5% on back two and rear window plus the front windshield brow. I live in Texas and just below the 25% legal mark on the front windows. The back windows are legal to be 5%. I think the car looks fantastic with the dark tint.

I did 35% all the way around after debating whether or not to do the rears at 18%.
Having all the windows the same just has that classy look to it. However, 35% is really borderline too light and dark. In daylight, some angles let you see right through it. At night, there are angles where it looks pitch black.
I'm in CA, so front tint is a no no.

I would go with the same tints on all windows, it makes it look cleaner. You probably won't get harrassed by the police in an B8 S4 regardless of what level you get your tints.
