They're LM60s.

Heading onto a curvy on ramp this morning I forgot the fact that I just put on brand new snow tires. I hit the gas turning into the entrance and slid the car unexpectedly. Oh yeah, I don't have my summer rubber on any more. Ooops.

I have those on my other car, which is my primary ski vehicle. The WS70s are grippier on snow and ice than any other snow tire I've used, but they're designed for absolute traction at the expense of handling. At higher speeds and on dry pavement they feel mushy, and not at all sporty. I did a quick lane change at 70+mph on dry pavement and **** my pants when the front-outside tire felt like it folded under and broke traction. The car fishtailed a little before I got it under control (then pulled over to wipe my butt).
For my primary ski car I'll keep using the WS70 (and drive it like I borrowed it) but on the S4 I wanted something that handled better during enthusiastic driving.
Edit: In case anyone's wondering why this S4 isn't going to be my primary ski car -- it's because cars get pelted by rocks on the way up to the resort, the parking lot can get jammed pretty tight and people aren't always careful where they swing their doors or metal edged skis, and if the other car, which is six years old and was cheap to begin with, gets some door dings or scratches I won't sweat it. This nice new car OTOH will be our secondary car for days I don't expect to play Beyond Thunderdome with the other people.

I had WSs on my 04 R32. They were fantastic on snow and ice. Virtually impossible to break them loose in anything. BUT they were not performance at all. Like toecutter said, not great at all in corners. The tread on those were like gummy bears.
I'm pretty set on trying LM60s on the S. I appreciate toe's pics showing that the LM60s have a nice winter tread pattern. This thread combined with Sandy is making me ready to order the VMRs with WS60s this week!

Does anyone have pictures of gunmetal grey rims on a moonlight blue car? I think it would be a good combo but wouldn't mind seeing it. I guess it must not be that popular of a color for wheels as I couldn't really find any on tirerack. Thanks.

I just purchased and installed 18 inch Rial Como wheels on a 2013 moonlight blue with Bridgestone Blizzaks. The wheels are ever so slightly dark silver. I actually prefer the color/finish over the stock Audi wheels.
I'll try to post a picture later at some point. I saw a few real world photos on google image search, but the wheels appear a little more gray in person (they claim silver on tire rack). I think it's a nice compromise and they don't show the brake dust as quickly.
