Default worthwile getting Audi winter wheel package?

Anybody on the forum opting to go with Audi Winter wheel package and why if so?

Also, am curious how the 8x18 OEM alloys look if anyone has them.

MSRP $2,595 - is it worth it...

thanks!!!

WAY too expensive for me. I'd rather stick with my summer tires and sink that money into a new exhaust or ECU tune. I'm pretty sure my summer tires w/ quattro will handle just fine for the 5 or 6 days in the winter when I drive in the snow.

those ultra high performance summer tires wont handle snow in the least...suggest you dont drive those 5-6 days so you dont spend your 5K on repairs instead of upgrades.

besides...summers will freeze in dropping temps and provide poor wet weather handling and stopping performance.

Definitely like the dunlops but not a fan of the wheels.

lots out there to pick from.

I also thought that buying from audi dealer you get some warranty on the tire....

Btw... how much a non OEM set will cost... $2,000 minimum I think?

btw I am in NYC so no idea if I need snows...

For $2,600 you can get many top quality tire/wheel combo's. I see Audi wheel quality to be very good but not worth a premium cost over BBS or OZ wheels. I would be surprised if the dealer tire warranty is more than a pass through from the tire producer.

I once thought that as well until I experienced my first snow. I took my A4, with high performance summer tires, out of my driveway and down the street in my housing area. I could not complete a low speed corner, lost all traction and hit a snow bank. Fortunately, the only damage incurred was to my belief that summer tires were "okay" for snow conditions.

My Audi's have had snow tires, for the winter months, ever since.

I've lived in Chicago my whole life and was just fine with summer tires on my previous A4. Driving at low to moderate speeds is all that matters.

Tires ok but no way with those rims for that money. I am looking at other alternatives.

Just checked on Tire Rack BBS/OZ wheels are all north of $500 per rim, if you add tires to that you will spend north of $3,000.

The tires themselves are around $200-250 - so $800-1000 per set.

That means that rims need to be below $400($1,200 per set) for it to be cheaper....

Wow, those are some hella ugly rims! No thanks.

But I'm still looking for a 18 or 19"
