Would you have purchased an S5...

S5 was never even an option in my eyes. Much bigger fan of the S4 and if was going to bump it up I would go straight to the A6/S6. I'm sure the S5 is a great car to drive but just has never done anything for me.

It's probably silly to a lot of people, but the non-opening sunroof on the A5/S5 was a deal breaker for me. The V8 at the time had no appeal to me. Now that it has the V6, the S5 is more appealing. However, if I had to make the decision today, my S4 will still win; it's just a matter of preference. I'm impressed when I see the S4s and the S5s on the road.

My option was either the S4 or A6. Never considered the S5 mainly because of it being 2 door. The A6 prestige v S4 is about 15-18k difference. So, the S4 has the best of both world!

The S5 has the edge in looks for sure. The V8 and it's gas mileage and extra $$ was the deal breaker.
Now that the V6 replaces the V8 it would make me think more about it but the back seat access breaks the tie

I like the look of S5 and I came close to ordering one, but I ordered S4 for two reasons. First, the rear seat of S5 is hard to get into, harder than for BMW 335i coupe, for example. Second, the huge sunroof does not open, only tilts.

That's odd about the sunroof, I didn't realize that.
I do think the S5 is a slightly better-loking car but no way could I have done without a real back seat over the past couple years. But now that the 3.0T is in there and my youngest is going to be a HS senior this year, so next year...we'll see.

Funny thing is the car that got me to look at and talk to the dealer about Audi was an A5. I have a one year old son, so I kinda need 4 doors. The dealer had the S4 that I bought sitting right next to the A5. When I asked them the difference between the 2, they just told me "about 100 hp." If they would have had an S5 at the time, it would have made it a little tougher decision. I test drove the S4 I bought and have never looked back.
