Hello everyone.
I'm a soon-to-be S4 owner, non-navi. Can hardly wait with way too much time to research the first mods. There is great information here. Thanks.
One thing I'm not sure about is if the Sirius module can be switched out for XM. I've found plenty of info doing this on the older models, but what about the B8? Nothing against Sirius, but I have a lifetime XM sub.
Thanks.

Thanks for the info. In Canada, XM and Sirius are still separate companies. When I signed up, I was expressly told that the sub could be transfered twice. I asked because I had bad luck with a few early units.

FYI, You can probably get Sirius extremely cheap. The trick is to TRY to cancel. Its almost impossible because thy throw deall at you that are so cheap you can't refuse. I would call them up in advance and try to negotiate a deal. If not, tell them you want your money back . They will do almost anything to keep you as a customer. As others have said. Sirius and XM radio are owned by the same company but do not have EXACTLY the same programming. But I understand there is a lot that is the same.

i was in the exact same situation as you and i can 100% guarantee that there is no way for you to get your in-car system to work with your lifetime subscription. although Sirius-XM are the same company, the Sirius service and XM service are running on different systems, and the billing department won't let you transfer an xm lifetime to sirius or vice versa. you have two options:
1) try to find someone who is in the same situation as you, but vice versa (a sirius lifetime subscriber looking for an XM subscription). i was doing that for a while, but got cold feet at the end. it's also a bit scary because you are trusting a complete stranger.
2) buy an aftermarket xm tuner. i'm actually looking into this option right now.
Also, someone else commented that lifetime subscriptions are vehicle-specific. This is only partly true. Lifetime subscriptions are only vehicle-specific if it is currently on a factory-installed radio. For example, if you had a Hyundai with XM. However, the lifetime subscription is transferrable (up to 3 times, each time with a fee of something like $49 or $79) if it is currently on an after-market radio.
hope that helps!

Thanks for the replies. I should have been more specific. I've searched threads for swapping in the XM Tuner p/n 8E0 035 593 G module and was looking for confirmation on doing this for the B8.
If this is a no-go, then I'll go with Sirius and give GP's suggestion a shot.

I believe it is possible, but not sure it has been done before. Probably requires some coding and I'm not sure if it would impact the ability for the Nav to receive traffic info.
