Default Auto Start/Stop moves gear into P

Hello,
I recently noticed folowing "bug". When the *** engages, and I want to continue driving after the stop: i lift my foot of the brake, and the engine restarts. HOWEVER, instead of being able to continue driving in D. The gearbox goes into P.
So it goes like this: *** with foot on brake in D -> Lift foot: engine starts -> Gearbox automatically goes in to P.
Has anyone here encountered the same issue? Or has any idea what can cause this issue? The issue first appeared to happen after a 1.5h drive on the motorway (normal driving behaviour: cruisecontrol and regular driving)
No error messages show up on the dash, or on VCDS/OBD11 when a read out was performed in the garage.

Any help would be apreciated,

Kind Regards
Aron

That’s odd.
only time I noticed the car ever went to park by itself was when I had the door open and attempted to drive.

Might be a dumb question: do you have your seatbelt on? I know my A4 behaves differently if my seatbelt is off, but I haven't experienced what you're describing exactly.
