Does anyone here know why the warranty has been extended on the fuel pump of a 2021 S4? I got the letter from Audi on mine yesterday.

Just guessing, but usually in cases like this - there have been a significant number repairs (both in and out of warranty) for the issue that were traced back to faulty part design and the manufacturer does a special warranty extension as goodwill as opposed to recalling every vehicle.

Not sure on your S4, but I had a fuel pump recall on my 2012 A6, that concerned a chance of a leak at the gasket where the pump mounts to the tank. Your service advisor should have info as to what problems would require the fuel pump replacement.
