I have had this car for about two months. It is still in warranty until next year. I did NOT buy it from an Audi dealer. I took it to the nearest Audi dealer for this problem and a couple of other issues. They had the car for 13 days! The problem seemed to be fixed when I drove home from the dealership, but of course they had re-initialized all settings.
When I got home, I re-entered my home address and one favorite destination in the navigator. Now every time I drive somewhere, the MMI unit spontaneously reboots within a few minutes, just as it was doing before!
I'm seeing quite a few references in other Audi forums to similar problems with other models. Is this a widespread software issue which is unresolved? Is there any circumstance where this could possibly be normal? Is there any setting I could have possibly screwed up which would cause this? I'm looking for any additional information which might be useful before I call the dealership again.
I'm still slogging my way through the 400 page owners manual, frustrated by the numerous references from one page to several others in different sections of the manual to try to explain a topic. For example, on page 146 near the bottom of the left column, "Press the <symbol> button to switch the Infotainment system on and off." There is no reference or explanation as to where this button indicated by <symbol> is located. Grrrr!

That would be the small round **** at the lower right of the centre console, just above the very small "storage slot" - in my 2017 manual it references the picture of the cockpit overview at the very front of the manual.
My dealer had the car a second time for almost a week trying to fix the spontaneous MMI re-booting problem. They did NOT fix the problem, but gave me a copy of an Audi TSB which supposedly applies to this problem:
However, a Google search for this bulletin returned another document which indicates this TSB is for a 2021 S4, not a 2018 S4: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...87353-0001.pdf
If my research here is correct, the dealer gave me the wrong TSB.
Did they do it to get rid of me?
Did they do it because they were incompetent and couldn't find the right one?
The last link above says:
"You can still get the detailed info from Audi for this TSB. Call your local Audi dealer's service department and ask for a copy of TSB# A9121982055591_5".
I wonder what kind of response I will get if I make this call?
There is another Audi dealer a bit farther away. Maybe I should take the car there while it is still in warranty?
I really like this car, but I'm very frustrated by the amount of effort I have had to exert so far in an unsuccessful attempt to get this problem fixed.

For what it's worth that TSB Issue ID (2062266/3) does not show up in VAG's erWin for my 2018 S4. Though I have not had this issue with the MMI myself and my report is specific to my vin. However viewing your issue ID it seems the report is applicable to all VINs. Not sure how they would have pulled the wrong TSB.
I do see the other TSB you referenced here A9121982055591_5 which came up for a 2018 A4 and S4:
