Default Rear brake calipers appear to be missing something

My new S4 finally arrived after a 6 month wait.
Love the car so far, but the rear brake calipers appear to be missing something compared to the fronts.
Is this normal. Is this how they all come?
I appreciate your input before I challenge the dealer.
Here are the front and rear shots.

It appears in the catalog that they eliminated the S cover plate on the rear calipers starting May 29 '17. So MY17 S4, if they existed, would have them. But no MY18+ would.

As you can see, the current calipers lack the holes for the cover plate tabs.

Thankyou for your response, it's a $$ saving thing I'm sure.
I was actually more disappointed that the car was delivered with only one key fob. Was told they are all coming that way because of the chip shortage.

This is actually true.. There are references here and on the eTron forums of other customers reporting the same.. Also, at some point I had seen a memo sent to Canada dealers regarding the shortage, although in that case they were providing two fobs - but only one was capable of starting the car, the other could just lock/unlock. Customers would be provided with the 2nd regular fob once parts were available.

I had also read that some cars are coming with inoperable dummy sunroof switches for delivery to customers, and that dealers would install the correct switches once the parts were available.

The supply chain issues are crazy. -- but as far as the brake caliper cover, that was a cost-cutting measure -- that was done a while back -- my 2018 didnt have them by the time it was produced either.

Thankyou RickNY for the confirmation.
I tried contacting Audi USA through Open Chat, but never was able to get through.

AoA is pretty much closed for contact these days. Wanted them to clarify on the MY19 RS5 being on the 3G list, phone died after being on hold for 2.5 hours. Then again, at least their message said "hold times are 3 to 4.5 hours".

I have 2018 MY S4 with Sports package. Maybe its a sports package thing?
The rear calipers aren't exposed like the picture. Mine are covered (can't see the break pad)

Heres the deal -- there were some slight changes made to the S4 midway through the production for that year.. I believe it was somewhere around November 2017 that the following changes were made for the 2018 models:
- Trunk bag hooks -- reduced from 2 to 1
- Rear fog lights removed
- Red tail lights were also a different shade of red
- Rear calipers were changed to not include the 'S' cover (or any mechanism for attaching it)
- Trunk lights reduced from 2 to 1
- Alarm motion detection disable button removed from door and incorporated into fob buttons
- USB port added to front of console near sunglass tray

One other thing -- I don't believe the non-S sport packages (i.e. black calipers) ever had the covers on the rear.

There may be more, I dont recall. But if you had one of the first MY 2018 S4's to hit the US (US missed out on 2017), you had the above. My 2018 was one of the ones that did not, and mine was built in Jan 2018.

Also -- there was a big discussion here in regards to the dust cover thing back in 2018 when the changes were made -- https://www.audiworld.com/forums/s4-...ssing-2940951/
