Well, after reading through posts in this thread, I think I can't do a direct replacement. I might need to get an amp instead since I need to pay for return shipping on the subwoofer I purchased online . My question is, can I connect the existing "subwoofer wire" (previously connected to the oem subwoofer) directly to the amp input? or do I need to get the audio out (RCA) from the Audi system audio and connect that to the amp input? The later will involve the disassembling the car audio system .

Thanks for all help and advices.
in your case use the SVC version of the CompC10

Do you think if it will be a better option/performance to keep the dual coil 44CWCD104, and buy a subwoofer amp (Planet Audio MB600.2D, for example)? With the addition of a subwoofer amp, do we just connect the existing subwoofer wires directly to the amp? Thanks.

If the amp works with the factory wiring then yes it will be better. Especially if you can find one with some signal shaping controls. Keep in mind that free air subs will hit their limits around half their rated power. The B&O amp has enough power to bottom out the CompC10 dvc 4 ohm. But it's nice to have some bass boost or to change the crossover frequency (80 is nice)
