Out of nowhere, my engine failed, and the Audi dealership near where this happened has diagnosed the issue as a thrown rod. Cut oil filter, and lots of metal. $16,000 to repair, $24,000 for used engine, $30,000 for new engine.

All scheduled maintenance was done by Audi dealership where I purchased the car.

Any other instances of this?

I haven't done anything to the car outside normal scheduled maintenance by the dealer. I assume that's stock.
