I will need one h*ll of an extended warranty or put away money for K04. I generally hold onto cars for a long time(I have a 1983 Caprice Classic AVANT ;-)). On a positive note, my 2002(I waited to purchase a 2002, hoping AUDI would iron out all the little/big problems) S4 has performed flawlessly, except for the surging during boost sometimes. Yes, it is probably the bp valves.
The S4 is a great car and I am very happy with it, but I am getting concerned. Maybe I am paranoid!
Thoughts on what a 2002 S4 Silver(best Color) with 17K will bring?

The damn thing depreciates so quickly that there is almost no point in selling it - at least for me. I plan to keep it for 100k and then get a new car and leave this one in the garage for the occasional drive or perhaps for the winters. All depends on what kind of car I get next.

if you are driving it hard, let it idle for 2-5 minutes, depending on HOW hard. Get a boost gauge installed and don't get into the boost until you hit 175F.
If you live in really, really hot areas, run 15W-50 in the summer, and a 0W-30, 0W-40 or 5W-30 synthetic.
Stick with a premium synthetic. Mobil One, Amsoil and Royal Purple are top notch, but Valvoline, Castrol, Pennzoil and other major brand synthetics are pretty damn good as well.
Also, change your oil and filter at least every 5K, if you want everything to last as long as possible.
Many older Audi's rn 200,000-400,000 on original turbo's. I had a 5000TQ Wagon and I ran it t0 238K with the oem turbo, the day the car caught fire. Turbo ran perfectly, never had an issue.
