Default ** ROAD TRIP IN THE S4 **

Ok, well, assuming all goes as planned, I'll be headed out on a 3-week road trip to visit relative in Kentucky, starting on Sat.

Check out <a href="http://www.taner.net/trip/" target="_new">the lame web page</a> I set up to track my trip, in case people are around and want to meet up.

I'll hopefully be pitstopping in Houston for a day to meet up with a bunch of you folks :-)

Let's keep fingers crossed that the S4 makes it without any problems ;-)

Shoot me an email (<a href="mailto:taner@taner.net">taner@taner.net</a>) if you appear to be en-route and want to see if we can do lunch/dinner/whatever or something... or if there are any events scheduled that I might be able to attend.

I should be in KY from 7/26 thru 8/2 (+/- a day or two) and travelling the rest of the time (check the page for the exact route

Anyway, I hope to meet at least a few of you en-route, and if you see a santorin Audi with Cali plates that say 'SIGSEGV', gimmie a honk! ;-)

Default Cool... I just did 4k in 3 weeks from Chicago..

down to New Orleans through Texas.. and a whole lot of other places. Other than a Nogaro I saw in Houston, didn't see any other S4s Did see a Imola Yellowish 996TT in Houston tho.. carbon fiber/alluminum trim and recaro seats.. etc.. had the window slightly open.. mmmm.. the interior smells fast! Ha ha..

Good luck on your drive, mine had no problems though I was totally **** about my cooldown even with the turbo timer. Only thing that happened was that the washer fluid reservoir died on my last 3 days. Not a problem.

Default Have fun - just came back from a 7k trip...

The travelogue is forthcoming, I shot thousands of images with my new Canon D30 and still need to sort them out.

When I made an appointment for 10k miles with a car that's 7 weeks old, I got some looks...

Default Looks good. One change I'd suggest...

Try to enter Yellowstone from the NorthEast entrance rather than the East entrance. It'll add a few hours on to your trip, but you get to drive over the Beartooth Pass. Beautiful road, with glaciers visible from it, winding up and around the hills. Plus since it is in Montana they trust people to know their own speed limit, and the limit is set at 55 or 65 despite most of the road people 25 MPH hairpins... You gotta check it out.

Default Yes to both =)

As for the miles, we went from CA thru NV and UT to CO, SD, NE, WY, MT, BC, WA, OR. Three weeks in a tent, was fun. We got snowed in in Yellowstone =)

As for the D30: if you have Canon lenses already (like me), it's definitely worth it. The CMOS chip is vastly superior to the CCD (the D30 is at this time the only digital camera in the world to use CMOS). ISO 400 is virtually noise free, 1600 is still pretty ok. Yes they will be coming out with better ones but it's digital and that has to be expected. For now, it's very good, up to 11*14" prints for sure.

I will be posting a travelogue in the next 10 days or so, the text is already written, just need to do formatting and publishing.

Default Well, here are two.

One is taken with the 17-35L lens, the other with the 100-400L-IS lens. Both are completely unprocessed, just the way they came from the camera.

Note: both are quite huge.<ul><li><a href="http://www.phototrek.org/d30/">Sample pics from Canon D30</a></li></ul>
