R1's are BEAUTIFUL bikes. I *WILL* own one, one day.
My first bike was an 05 R6. Then I went to the 06 R6. I decided to wait on the R1 until I got a little older and gain a little more experience. The R1 is a phenomenal machine but it is very unforgiving. If you plan to ride that beast you had better know what your doing because it can seriously come back to bite you in the ***. A 600 has a little give as far as making a mistake, like applying too much power through a turn and losing some traction. I've done that many times on both R6s and regain easily. You do that on an R1 and you could be in some trouble.
Probably 2yrs or so and I'll have an R1 in the stable. The insurance should also be considerably cheaper for me by then

we've talked on AIM before, I bought that stock M-box ECU off you last spring, dont know if you remember .. friend of Mike Moore's and Uli's. i'm on wayot also...
If your ever in NJ let me know, i'll do some pulls and make some vids if you want. I have about 15 or so friends with bikes\cars also that would be down, some litre bikes and some 600s.

Yup, I work in Toms River and spend most of my time here but I live in Lacey (x74 GSP, Forked River)
which is only like 10-15mins away. We usually ride in Toms River and we go up to the industrial park in Lakewood to stunt and wheelie. I'm sure you've been to rt37 in Toms River. the drag race capital of Ocean county 
I'm sure there are lots of cars out there that you could surprise. There's a charcoal evo that runs streetbikes, and another electric blue one that is no joke.
