Most move them up past the gearing limit of the car, AFAIK.

Default Probably higher than that
I know my own chipped 1.8t will do 150 and a 2.7t makes about 25% more power.

i think he meant in stock mode with chip (in reference to drag limited to 157)

Default Nope. Car & Driver Sept '99 tested a pre-production sample which didn't have a rev limiter.
They topped it out at 157. The same can be done with a stock car by Lemmiwinks...you can extend the speed limiter with no other modifications.
