I seem to recall there was about a needle width's of space between the speedometer needle and the top right corner of the odometer display. With taller 235/40-18 tires, that's 180mph.

Based of my photos below:
5th gear, 6600 RPMs, 143 MPH:
means 175 MPH = 8077 RPMs in 5th
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/139/oneforty.jpg">
6th gear, 6300 RPMs, 160 MPH:
means 175 MPH = 6890 RPMs in 6th
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/139/onesixty.jpg">
So his tach needle is incorrectly placed for the MPH that are shown. Even if it was a good photoshop job, the needles are mathmatically incorrectly placed.
This is of course, with the assumption that it's a 6-speed and the clutch is not slipping.
