Default 1k over invoice for an 01? Yay or Nay?

Based on what others have said they paid, it looks like a pretty good deal to me. Combined with the fact that there seem to have been minimal changes for 02, I don't really see the value of paying more for the 02. Am I wrong on that? Also, are you expected to always go back to the dealer for service, is it "highly encouraged", or is it optional? The dealer is not the most convenient for me, though it's only about 20 miles away, so it's a minimal factor at best.

Default You could probably get a 01 for invoice...

or maybe even less... depending on where you live.

Obligated to return to the dealer for service? Ha! In SoCal, we are so desperate for decent dealers, we'll drive way out for one as evidenced below... sigh

Default I got my 2002 Friday for $1k under invoice. Go to Edmunds.com, and check out TMV. They do it by

zip code, so you can see exactly what you should be paying in your market

Default Do check edmunds site. No, you don't need to go back to the dealer you bought from, but they may

offer you perks that you won't get otherwise ( loaner/Audi loaner).

Default $1k under invoice for a 2002? How'd you manage that?

Sure you didn't mean $1k under MSRP?

Default I really like WoT; do you think that name was inspired by Gollum from Tolkien's books?

For those not in the know, WoT is the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. A golem is a type of evil creature in WoT.

I looked it up on m-w.com:

Main Entry: go·lem
Pronunciation: 'gO-l&m, 'goi-, 'gA-
Function: noun
Etymology: Yiddish goylem, from Hebrew gOlem shapeless mass
Date: 1897
1 : an artificial human being in Hebrew folklore endowed with life

So it appears RJ's inspiration here was history, once again.

I'm reading the Hobbit right now, then I'll bone up on Lord of the Rings prior to the release of the 1st movie episode.
