2 laser questions: #2 is for O.W. Kenobi; 1) Is there any point in trying to slow down once you know

you've been hit by laser, or is "instant on" pretty much an instant reading and you can't defeat it?
2) Matt: You said they won't know you have Lidatek. I don't fully understand. Won't they see some sort of scrambling / malfunction on their laser gun the instant they zap you, and won't that make them suspicious?

Yes, it pays to slow down fast. These LASER units aren't that easy to use. It can take a little while to target and get a reading. Those are precious moments when you can slow down.
There are one or two units, mostly used in Europe, that can detect the pulses of a jammer. But the jammer manufacturers are changing their pulses all of the time. So the LASER guys improve their systems too.
But by far the majority of units provide no warning to the operator. I don't think any used in the USA do (but I could easily be wrong about this). I suspect a really good operator might have a suspicion. But mostly it just seems like he cannot get a target on you.
Kevin (Dr. Jekyll) and I played with a gun and jammer for a while. These were our impressions. Do a search as we provided a write-up on the forum at the time.

The Laser warning on my V1 goes off. It has gotten to the point where I almost always ignore the laser warning. Of course it went off and there was a cop the other day but I wasn't speeding.
What is on those Inifinitis that that is tripping my V1?

The light frequency is the same as LASER and the V1 interprets it as that.
There are a few different lights that will do it. I've also found that patrol car flashing lights will do it -- but maybe that isn't such a bad thing. :-p

and the cop to get a reading of your speed below the speed limit. If it jammed constantly, he'd know that you were jamming. But because he gets a reading, he assumes that the first zap was erroneous.

My experience was that you could tell. The guns have an audible signal to help targetting. Even if there isn't enough of a return to get a speed, there is usually still a little return. With the jammer on, there is no targetting signal whatsoever. The smart operator will recognise this and know he is being jammed.
