Default i gotta 2000...

i've heard they are the fastest because there is no ESP. but i'm sure there will be people to challenge that

Default Most updated parts 10/00+ (2001.5+) Faster stage II 2000 (A) Fastest stage III 2001 (M)

They updated the turbos but they still fail.. But the better intake manifold and the lack of PITA to change Fhose would sway me to a 2001+ vehicle.

Default I like 2000 cause no ESP

I don't like what I am hearing about it. I am not sure I want the ESP to start braking this wheel or that wheel on its own.

If you don't like ESP then press the "off" switch...street: always on; track: always off.

Default I was asking this same question, I just bought a 2001.5

The build date was October 2000. It has ESP, but as mentioned here, you can just turn it off. The F-hose has been eliminated and there is a different throttle body boot design. It's true that the turboes can still fail, but it appears that fewer 2001.5 models have fewer problems. Audi made some design changes for a reason.

Until you hit the brake pedal then ESP re-engages! Ask funkyweasel

Default Don't have to ask anyone, off is off on my 02 until I turn it back on

and I've hit the brakes pretty damn hard coming into the infield on the North Course of Pocono. I've never had ESP re-engage.

Maybe your friend needs to have his car checked by an Audi tech.
