I am debating between the 330xi and the S4... I am sure you are all S4 biased - but I want some opinions...
for 2001 of each 20,000 miles - both are AWD:
S4 has more standard equipment - Leather, power seats, Xenons, and it is $31,825 - 6 speed Manuel tranny - 250HP (0-60 in 5.6 - 5.8) - people think it is just a normal A4 - Good for racing - bad for cuz it looks like an A4.... Can upgrade it like a **** for more power..... Better AWD system
330xi is $30140 - 225 HP (0-60 in 6.8) - Has the BMW ROUNDEL, I think the interior is nicer, Better engine, tranny, brakes.
Fully loaded S4 - w/ out nav = $33,200
Fully loaded 330xi - w/ out nav= $34,261
point is, S4 is fast and fairly luxury, 330 is not as fast but more luxury
So I don't know what I should be looking for..... any thoughts....

Bimmer interior are not even close to the S4 interior, neither is the sound system, (not that Bose is THAT great)so I dont see how 330 is more luxurious. However, you should consider additional money for turbos, just in case you dance with the turbo lady. Also the S4 is more maitanence. I dont think the 330 has anything on the S4. I never drove one but got a ride in one. But its your money! If you are willing to take care of the S4 and dont mind it, go with the S. But the 330 is damn nice as well.
Oh and PSU OwnZ jOO! :- )

the BMW roundel means nothing to me, and with BMW's terrible new designs (see 745i, Z4, Z6, new 3 series on the way), I think BMW has shot itself in the foot.
The S4 has so much more torque, it's speed is much more usable. As for engine, the S4's engine has won many an award (car and driver, auto, motor and sport, ect), far more than the V-6 in the BMW. The turbos can be an issue on the S4 if the car is not warmed up or cooled down appropriately, but turbo failures are still a small portion of the cars out there.
Is the S4 from a dealer with an audi certified warranty? If so, I'd go with the S4 for certain.
330 handles better, does carry more clout with the non enthusiast crowd, and is a damn nice car. But as you pointed out, the quattro system is better, the S4 is very mod friendly, and the S4 has more options for hte buck.
We're all S4 lovers here and we all could have had a 330XI, so you know where we'll stand. But, when you throw out the BMW name clout (one reason I DO NOT and will not drive a BMW), I honestly feel the S4 is a better car.

There really is no comparison.
Also you really are underestimating tunability. Can a modded 330ix run low 12s?
If looks are more important to you than anything else, however, get the 330. It's your 34k.

try "search" and enter "330xi" selecting
the S4 database. lots of hits!
If it came to interior and engine, I'd pick engine personally. The S4 biturbo is rare now with the new B6 platform coming out.
Are you going to get the car Audi Assured?
I'd recommend it. Make sure you know the history of the car. It may have been chipped. That's the one thing I'd be afraid of.. who knows what kind of abuse that car has been through and whether or not proper steps have been taken to warm up/cool down the car.

Search
