Default 2001.5 Audi S4 5 Speed Auto, Engine and or Transmission Removal Help

I have a 2001.5 Audi S4 with a 5 speed Tiptronic Transmission in it, and I need to replace the rear main seal, I have the skill to do the job and a lift and the tools but I can not get a strait answer on the best way to do it.

Here are my options

1. Remove engine and Transmission together (How I am told it should be Done
2. Remove just engine. (There is a video on this but it’s a manual).
3. Remove just the Transmission, I have only had 1 person who works with European cars tell me to do this but its very hard if you have never done one.

I am looking for advice I just want a straight answer on the best way to do the work.

Just pull them together. That tip tranny weighs a ton. You should get the Bentley manual for your B5 and you wont regret it.
Its not as bad as it seems, just want to make sure you do not rush, take allot of pictures and notes.
