I have a 2001.5 S4 that I purchased about 3 months ago, and I've been looking into getting a chip for the car. I found a good deal on an "M" box ECU, so I pulled the cover on my car to check the part number assuming I'd have an M box. Turns out I have a "T" box...anyone else with an 01 have a 2002 ECU "T" box? I think the previous owner had the car chipped at one point...maybe he swapped out the ECU? Any comments would be appreciated!

I think the T-box superceeds the M-box as a dealer replacement part as well, so if the ECU was replaced under warranty for any reason, they might have put a T-box in instead.

straight out for my existing "T" ECU?
Is there a reason to look specifically for a "T" ECU? Will a chip for an "M" ECU work in a "T" ECU?
I haven't come across that before in the forums, but I don't usually seem to find quite what I'm looking for in the searches anyway.
In the long run I'm going to be looking for another ECU to chip so I can keep my stock as a spare or to swap back in when going to the dealer for extended warranty issues. Just want to make sure either box would work...
Thanks!
